Why Star Wars LEGO Figures are So Popular

It is hard to believe that it was ten years ago that LEGO and Lucas Film became partners with just some Star War LEGO bricks!

The Phantom Menace was released for both kids and collectors, but no one would have been able to predict the fun filled video games and the book which features the LEGO Star Wars.

Star Wars LEGO figures are not only popular and appealing to younger fans of the trilogy movies, but the older fans that actually grew up watching the series are also drawn to the LEGO Star Wars figurines.

This line of LEGO products is so popular that even a video game was created featuring the Star Wars universe. There are also many websites that have been created to trade and chat regarding these unique LEGO products.

Some people feel that the Mos Espa Podrace, Qui-Gon and Maul’s Light-Saber are very fine LEGO figurines, with Mos Espa Podrace being the most popular. The Land Speeder, Speeder Bikes and Snow Speeder Vehicles are also very much in demand.

One theory for the popularity of these LEGO Star Wars sets is that they are a combination of the movies and toys at the same time! The other theory is that the Star Wars LEGO items are complex works of art, rather than simple toys, as was in the case of the Death Star II released in 2005, with 3500 pieces, with a lot of detail; taking about 10 to 20 hours to complete.

Many of the Star Wars LEGO line are collector’s items and will live on for a very long time into the future. In 2006 they were updated and even new LEGO kits including A-Wing, B-Wing, V-Wing Slave I and TIE Interceptor came into being.

So what are the new and latest Star Wars LEGO sets for 2010 and beyond?

The Lego Star Wars ARC-170 Star Fighter set number 8088 is a great remake of the 7259 LEGO, with figurines that have never been previously available. There are Flick firing missiles, 3 cockpits which open up and wings that can unfold into an attack position.

The number 8088 also has a Kit Fisto mini-figurine with a new design and is going to most probably be a rare collectible, along with Captain Jag, the RA-P44 Astro Mech Droid and a Clone Pilot. All these items are 434 pieces and should be available by Christmas of 2010!
