Tumescent Liposuctions

Tumescent liposuction is a technique of removing fat in which the area to be suctioned is injected with an anesthetic and saline solution. This technique has been around since the 1980’s, however, it is safer than earlier techniques because there is less blood loss and damage to tissue.

Here are the areas that can be treated with tumescent liposuction:  buttocks, arms, neck, hips, inner and outer thighs, knees, legs, love handles, male breasts. The best thing about tumescent liposuction is that it is a lot safer than previous methods. The patient is only given a local anesthetic.  Typically, all surgical problems stem from adverse effects to anesthesia.  The patient remains awake and is only given a local anesthesia. The recovery time is also amazing.

It only takes 24-48 hours. Often times the patient can walk right out of the recovery room. Another advantage is that since the patient remains awake he can help the doctor be more accurate in the fat removal process. Doctors don’t take out enough fat in some cases. The other improvement worth mentioning is that the solution that is injected into the body contains anesthesia, which is good because this allows the doctor to remove more fat safely.

Liposuction has been greatly improved with tumescent liposuction.  It is safer and more effective than earlier methods.  Almost any outside part of the body that contains loose fat can be liposuctioned out safely. The newer method of injecting the body with a saline anesthetic saves recovery time and makes the doctor more effective in his procedure.

Check with your licensed medical doctor to find out what kind of treatment will work best for you. Also, there are many techniques out there.  You can figure out what is involved with each one if you want to be a smart consumer.
