Millions of electric shavers a sold each year, and with many of these being bought as a gift, it is easy to make a wrong decision and buy the wrong type of shaver for who the gift is for. If you are buying for a man, there are basically two types of shavers to choose from, but how do you know which type is right?
The first step is to find out what type of shaver they are using now. When you know this, the safest route is to stick to that type of shaver and just buy them an updated model.
It’s quite uncommon for a man who uses, and likes, a rotary electric shaver, to consider changing over to a foil shaver. Men are creatures of habit, and if you get a real close shave from a rotary, then hey…..why change? Right.
There are men however who use one type of electric shaver or the other who are not happy with the shave they get. If you know this to be true, and they are currently using a foil shaver, then my recommendation would be to buy them a rotary shaver as a gift.
Once you’ve decided between a rotary and a foil shaver, you next need to decide whether a mains powered shaver or a rechargeable shaver would be best. You do this by understanding how the shaver will be used.
If the user only ever uses the shaver in their own home, a mains shaver will be more than adequate. Mains shavers offer a very powerful shave and, because of the way they are powered, they are always ready to use.
The only limitation they have is that without a power supply they won’t work!
A rechargeable shaver is the more flexible of the two as it can be used even if you do not have direct access to an electricity supply. This becomes an extremely useful feature if say you are travelling abroad on vacation – a fully charged shaver should last you for the duration of a 2 week vacation.
