One of these dates is the maple syrup diet which is similar to other diets such as the cayenne pepper diet in terms of longevity and calorie count. Most diets are different and you should find out what the repercussions are before committing. The maple syrup diet is a ten day diet where you only have the maple syrup drink and nothing else. •    Lack of vital nutrients. Maple syrup diet comprises of water, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and water. Lemons have some vitamins but 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice will not be sufficient. Cayenne pepper as an herb will have very few minerals as well as water. You are bound to be deprived of minerals and nutrients.
•    You will send your body into starvation mode. This is because you are barely eating any solid foods depending on how seriously committed you are. You may experience fatigue and hunger pains but the water helps curb it.
•    This is also a detoxifying plan or program so you should expect to visit the bathroom several times. The maple syrup drink is also used to help your body flush out the toxins and waste products.

•    You can have fruits and vegetables. Sometimes it is very difficult to stay 10 days without food so you can have fresh fruits and vegetables especially raw in salads. They are low in calories and this helps you stay on the maple syrup diet longer.
