So have read the LPN job description and you like what you see. The next consideration is to decide on whether the typical LPN salary is something that you would be able to live well on. It’s easy to think that most people, who are considering a career in nursing, have only a desire to help other people, but the fact of the matter is despite these altruistic intentions they still do need to be practical, as do we all, so the LPN salary remains high on the list of important items.

Surprisingly, given the high demand for qualified LPN’s across the country there remains quite a large range in the salaries being offered. of course there is a variation depending on where you live, and the cost of living in that area. For instance if you live in New York then your cost of living is likely to be much higher than if you live in, say, Alabama, and this is reflected in the LPN salaries that are offered. These differences in salary due to cost of living should be eliminated by the fact that the higher salary does indeed reflect the high cost of living. The key measure of course, is what amount of disposable income do you have after paying for your cost of living items.

Other factors that affect the level of LPN salary included the particular demand in an area for the services of an LPN, and to a certain degree the density of the population in that area.  However, the positive factor, that is substantially responsible for keeping many many candidates across the country in LPN training, is the fact that the level of salary for an LPN at this time, is good, and prospects are improving all the time with opportunities for advancement in the nursing profession abounding.
