They won’t make you rich, but online surveys may net you a bit of extra cash each month. In fact, there is a growing number of people taking online surveys for money. With just a bit of research, and some hunting through the Web, you can join them.
Of course, you can’t expect to make a full-time salary from taking online surveys. But you can easily earn an extra $100 or so every month by taking short surveys. So many people are doing this, in fact, that the trend was recently reported on by ABC-TV’s Good Morning America.
To make money through online surveys, you first have to sign up with any of the many survey sites dotting the Internet. You might want to join quite a few. The survey sites have to select you to take their online surveys. The more sites you belong to, the better your chances of getting selected.

This demographic information, which will often include your age, gender and race, is important to marketers and manufacturers. If you’re uncomfortable sharing this information, you may have to reconsider your decision to make some extra cash through online surveys.
If you don’t mind disclosing these facts, though, you’ll find that joining online survey sites is easy. Make sure, though, that you never pay to join a survey site. Legitimate sites never charge people to sign up.
The amount of money you make will vary depending on the survey sites you join and how many surveys you end up taking. None of the sites pay you that much money for answering their survey questions. In fact, it’s rare to get paid more than $15 for taking an online survey. Many sites pay just $1 to $5 to the people who take their surveys.
Other sites send along free samples of products. You’ll usually end up answering survey questions about these products.
So while it’s not likely that you’ll make a fortune – small or otherwise – by joining survey sites, you can pick up a bit of extra spending money and nab some free products. So if you do have some free time this month, sign up for a survey site or two – or three or four – and see just how much extra pocket cash you can earn.
