Men undergo cosmetic surgery as well

Not many years ago there were only women undergoing cosmetic surgery. Nose and breast jobs have been done in the hundreds of thousands each year by females, but now men are following after. The most popular cosmetic surgery for men is the nose job, or Rhinoplasty as it is called in medical terms. But, there are many other procedures that have men submitting to the knife.

The reasons for undergoing surgery are usually the same for both women and men. They want to be more beautiful, fix things with their bodies that they don’t like, and hopefully increase their self-esteem and confidence. “Imperfections” like a crooked nose, slouching eyelids or eyebrows, excessive fat, are all things that can be “fixed” with cosmetic surgery. Some of these procedures are done very quick and require little time to recover and heal, while surgery such as a liposuction are best served by some down time after completion.

Cosmetic surgery prices for men vary and depend on your location, the amount of work that is to be performed, and of course what type of surgery you are undergoing. As new methods and techniques are developed, both prices and recovery time is decreasing. An operation to fix slouching eyebrows, as an example, would previously require a full face lift. Today you can undergo an endoscopic brow lift, which is minimally invasive, and have little or no down time when you are finished.

Generally, prices for these procedures range from $100 for the simplest Botox injection, to $12.000 for larger nose reshaping surgery. Most of these procedures are not covered by Medicare, as long as they are aesthetical procedures. If you however have medical reasons for your surgery, such as not being able to sleep properly because of a nose defect, then you should check what kind of coverage is available.
