So, it is pink earrings this year, and especially in the winter when everyone needs a little cheer. Many women think they must wear plain silver or gold for a business-like look and I’ll admit I have always been one of those conservative souls.
Looking into the jewelry store windows and stopping by jewelry counters in department stores, I am seeing the same message: Pink earrings are in this year. Women’s Wear Daily even asks, “Why has pink for our earrings been so neglected for years?”
The article even goes on to say that only unimaginative souls will feel they cannot wear pink earrings to the office, because this is the year for pink earrings to make a splashing debut.
The article goes on. Juan Garcia, the exciting Spanish designer, says he is going to show pink earrings with every one of his designs. He says he will show exotic pink, like dangling earrings, for his formal designs and, perhaps, with some business wear. He is enchanted with pink and says that contrary to conservative ideas pink can be worn with anything.
Juan says that he is anything but conservative, and he points out that he is wearing one pink pearl earring in his left lobe with his black turtleneck sweater. “Stunning, don’t you think?”
“Of course, Juan, you would look great in anything,” the reporter says.
“Of course.”
Maybe this will be the year for me to venture out on the limb of exotic looks. A change in attitude like this could easily change my life. In fact, when one ventures out on a limb, there is always the possibility one may fall and, perhaps, may end up in some exciting place. Do I have the courage to make this change?
I will.
But perhaps there will be disaster. Some handsome man driving his BMW beside me could wreck his car when he looks over at me. I have never been the cause of disaster, but who cares. I am ready to take the risk.
I’m going to spend the afternoon shopping for a perfect pair of pink earrings to wear to the Druids ball in January—something exotic. And, I may look for a couple pair to wear for the coffee house. According to Juan Garcia, you can wear pink anytime. You must just take on an attitude of “who cares” or “I know I’m gorgeous.”
I wish Juan Garcia were with me and he could tell me, “Go ahead and buy that pair of pink pearl earrings you love.”
