4. During fasting you reduce or minimize physical activities or exercise and this reduces metabolism. The weakness that fasting is causing to your body does not leave you with energy to exercise in order to stay fit and accelerate your weight loss.
5. When fasting for long period the body will first get rid of water weight and then will start utilizing the muscle tissues. The fat tissues are the last to be used. This as a result eliminates the muscle tissues which are vital for weight loss and maintains more fat which is a major problem when you want to lose weight.
To sum up, long-term fasting is certainly not a good choice for losing weight. Fasting for a couple of days per month can help but the most effective way to lose weight is through a balanced diet and exercise. Extreme measures never work for weight loss and cannot give you the long term results you want.
